How Many Springs Will I Break

Recommended Posts

I went to Tasca today for an oil change and was told I had a rear broken spring in two places. This will make the third set of springs on the rear and seconds on the front.

Tasca came back with an offer of 261 for quick struts on the rear, from what they are telling me that's just parts I'm not paying labor.

Oh the joys of a ford spring.

That is absurd!

:rolleyes:Nick ford is still saying there is no problem.

i'll tell you what if this car wasn't eating springs like crackers this car would have cost me close to nothing in repairs, besides maintenance items in 171,000 miles.

It did feel awesome to tell Jamie Tasca off in front of a waiting room of people that here service department

was a scam.

I mean really! 261 EACH installed per corner in the rear is robbery. I'm glad they leveled with you some but damn. They have air ratchets and s**t, it ain't that tough  Rear quickstruts are under $120 a side on rock auto. They can't mark them up that much.

That sucks. I had one break in two places and by chance the remaining coil sat right in the strut groove so I drove it that way for about two months before replacing it. I replaced it with the moog cargo coils which are noticeably heavier so hopefully won't break. I had a couple Escorts that I think had heavier springs than the factory Taurus coil.

Were all the springs you replaced Ford OEM ?

If not what brands were they, so that others can avoid purchasing them.
