Quick project update.

Detailed write up eventually.

It's in the car, all major fabrication is done. Need to button the engine bay back up, get the clutch pedal back in, get the shifter in, mount the SJB, reinstall my interior and some other nit-picky things.

Absolutely amazing work Danny! Can't wait to see the finished product in the car.

Thanks Zach, next few days it'll be done for good. Last big thing is to build the exhaust

Just curious - when did a bottle of Yuengling become part of an engine ?

Surely you jest? Nothing like this is even remotely possible without the beer First!

Nicely done, Rohand901

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks for all the encouragement. Here's another update.

I hears from James, who currently owns the black 2002 V8MTX Sport, that the pedals were very much too far apart to heel-toe downshift.
Figured I'd fix that problem before it became one
1.5" shift to the left on the throttle pedal:

Modified the SJB mount and welded some studs to the floor to secure it. RIP rear floor vents

Welded two mounts to the floor to secure the console, it sits a little higher than stock, but does fit over the SJB and retains the little cubby with the coil holder

Now, I'm about ready to throw the interior back together.
Should be ready soon!

Looks awesome dude. I'm having a hard time telling on my phone but what did you use to weld it up, it looks good from what I can see.

Thanks!

I've got a little Millermatic 135 mig welder. It gets the job done without having to pull a 240V line out to the garage. I wish I could afford to upgrade to a Tig welder, but the budget doesn't allow for it right now.

Some of my work is better than others, there's stuff on this project I'm not 100% happy with, but that's kinda how it goes sometimes. I had a bottle of pure argon and swapped it out for a C25 mix later on in the project and the "weldability" got better.

I'm calling it good. It made it out of the garage and to the gas station and back.
Didn't even catch on fire.

Still a few things to button up eventually, but its totally driveable again

Last bit of fab was tricky, running the exhaust around the damn shifter body, I tried to keep it tucked up as far as I could because the car sits pretty low

Looks real good! This is the kind of thing I would like to do to a car if I had the time and money (and a spare ride.)

Do you wanna hear a sweet video of bad water pump bearings. Cause that's all I've got right now. I hate this goddamn car. It never ends
