Gen 4 Electrical Question

Recommended Posts

Hey, folks,

Suddenly, the dome light in my '06 Taurus refuses to turn off for a good hour or so after the doors are closed, even while in motion. Also, the other evening, the lighting behind the driver's side door lock and window buttons wouldn't come on, 'windows wouldn't work, and then... they did, but only after several minutes. I dread the thought of electrical problems. Of course.

Any ideas, anybody?

Thanks,

Eric Bergren

I would start here in the accordion, driver's door to the body. Cut the zip tie, peal the accordion back and inspect the wires. You can get a total break, or intermittent break without the insulation totally broken. I have had 3 G-4 Sables break wires. If you have broken wires, I can suggest ways to fix. Speakers, windows, lights. I even had '01 wagon where the wires to the hatch crossed and the backup light wire shorted to the radio and turned the speakers off when in in "G".

Before you dig into that, spray some WD40 into the door's key hole and turn it several times.
