What's Wrong With Your Car(S)?

Recommended Posts

Well, an update.

Clunking noise from front end while going over bumps. There is a TSB on the issue, but obviously I'm way out of warranty. Swaybar end links look new anyway.

Rear strut assemblies are wearing out. To be replaced next year.

Still has idle issue, especially when AC is on. Either manifold gaskets, injectors, or something I haven't thought of.

The TSB your talking about is probably to replace the plastic end links with metal ones. TSBs are not like recalls anyway, in most cases you pay for them no matter what, even if you are under warranty.

I been trying to avoid stock springs. I'm planning on going lower soon.

Check engine light returned on the '01 Dakota. Hoses to the evap canister crack about once a year and require replacement. Very annoying. I'm looking for a permanent solution. One possible fix is to remove the evap canister and relocate it using straight hoses instead of curved. I'm tired of crawling under the truck and buying the specially formed hoses.

Here's what I got:

  • Cold start takes a few sec of ignition, revs high as 2000rpm
  • Washer fluid not working; leaks out when used, none makes windshield
  • Did some minor underbody damage with tire ramps when preparing to figure it out; stopped investigating
  • Paint chips around the car, no signs of rust yet

Mine revs to 2k rpm almost every cold start. Not sure why but there doesn't seem to be anything wrong.

Check the washer fluid hose under the hood. They like to break. Common issue with these cars.

For the paint chips: Maybe the rockers?

Caine:

  • broken pass rear subframe thing (punch through issue)
  • destroyed drivers rear strut bolt and spindle hole, but it still holds up the car
  • damaged bumper mount in front
  • bazillion cigarette burns
  • needs new brake on/off switch
  • needs YET AGAIN a drivers rear taillight. yeah, i backed into another dumpster >.<
  • needs a good buff and wax

Atora:

  • Find the issue and fix the miss on cylinder #3
  • bleed the brakes
  • get a set of decent tires on it (after a while)
  • find whats clunking when i turn right
  • paint the last rim, and finish painting the brake calipers and mounts
  • get some Christmas tree clips and put the license plate back on the front, and get tabs for it, due July 10th
  • get some flowtech raptor mufflers or delete pipes installed, and the front cat entirely welded back on (its only half welded for now)
  • get a magazine for the CD changer so i can finally use it
  • maybe think about some fresh rockers for her
  • maybe put the new springs i got with her, on her

This list will be further populated.

Not much....... You all are going to hate me but this is whats wrong:

- Drivers side seat warmer doesn't work (fine for summer!)

- Center console button needs to be glued back in

- Passenger side window is slightly slower than the rest to roll up or down

- There is sometimes a squeak in the brake pedal

- I feel like I hear a popping noise from the transmission when moving from reverse to forwards then taking off but I may be crazy.

Rear brakes drag/dont work

Driver front and passenger rear door locks dying

Headlights have pealling clear coat

Body damage and rust are taking over..

The Cougar

Cracked windshield (getting replaced Friday)

Coolant leak at radiator

Intake manifold runner control works when it wants to

2 bulbs burned out for climate control dials

Hood and bumper still need to be Sanded and buffed

Need to build a new 3rd brake light

That's all I can think of at the moment.

I don't think the warranty covers driver abuse...

Hopefully I'll find time to check out the washer hose soon, but thanks.

I forgot to mention for the cold starts the engine makes a squeaking sound as well.

I have seen GM void warranty due to abuse. Thats why Ive consistently said be careful bc if you have a failure of a major component they will pull the data and if they see excessive revs or high revs they will use it as a basis to deny your claim......

Need a belt tensioner and some new rotors. Diagnosing possible sticking calipers as cause for vibration and warping rotors.

Well, I don't blame GM for voiding warranties for abuse. All companies should.

But... This is also why I hate newer cars... Always logging data...

My Taurus and Thunderbird both can't betray me, it's a beautiful thing :)

Yeah, but OnStar I can trust. But you can disable that by pulling the OnStar Module out. However, why would you want to? With stolen vehicle recovery, and monthly status reports, and the peace and mind of being safe, I don't mind. And for only $199 for a year, that's a great value to me. Never know when you will be hit by a drunk driver and become unable to reach for the cell phone that probably flew out of the car.

I pay for my grandparents to have it, after their last accident and no cell phone, I mandated they get a GM with it. They even admit they feel safer driving knowing they are covered if anything happens, medical, accident, or just have a question and need someone to talk to. I even tested it and pressed the button and asked when I am due for an oil change, they told me. Pretty nifty feature if you ask me :)

I didn't expect to see a GM ad on the website...
