Kyle's 03 SES 17
Just curious why my headlights and taillights do not light up when i unlock or lock the doors? My friend has an 03 SE and his does...i have an SES and only my mirror mounted lights light up. Im thinking there is something goin on with my electrical system but I could be wrong. A QUOTE FROM ADMIN: This thread helps explain the process of activating the perimeter lamp illumination on a 2003 model (and possibly other models). To add perimiter lighting to a vehicle without it, see this thread: http://www.taurusowners.com/topic/5515-adding-illuminated-entry-to-a-2000-2001-taurus-sable/
Devin 325
I believe you need to swap out the GEM. You'd have to ask Bull Geek.

Gentz 27
Hey kyle.. I mean this.. I just pulled it from the manual Perimeter lamps illuminated entry The exterior lamps illuminate when the vehicle is unlocked using the remote entry system. On vehicles equipped with the autolamps feature, the following items will illuminate: • Puddle lamps • Head lamps • Park lamps • Tail lamps On vehicles not equipped with the autolamps feature, only the following items will illuminate: • Puddle lamps • Park lamps • Tail lamps The system will automatically turn off if: • the ignition switch is turned to the ON position, or • after 25 seconds of illumination. Deactivating/activating perimeter lamps You may also perform the following power door lock sequence to enable/disable the perimeter lamps feature: 1. Turn the ignition to ON, then press the power door unlock control 3 times. 2. Turn the ignition to OFF, then press the power door unlock control 3 times. 3. Turn the ignition to ON, and within five seconds press the power door unlock control 2 times. Note: You will receive two horn chirps to indicate that the system has been altered successfully. 4. Turn the ignition to the OFF position to exit the procedure. Note:the puddle lamps cannot be deactivated; performing this procedure will only deactivate the head, park and tail lamps.

IanDMacDonald 4
Morning guys, and Merry Christmas. Purchased an '05 Sable Platinum Edition. Only thing I did was replace the pads & rotors, and put Taurus rims on it, since the Sable one's were mismatched. Anywho, question about the security system. I have original key, but not the key fob. Bought two aftermarket remotes off eBay, and one from Auto Zone. All do the same thing: program fine, but only work when pointed under the dash where the alarm box is. When I get out of the car, nothing works. Sometimes the unlock works (confirmed when I see headlights), but rarely does the truck or lock feature work outside the car. Again, all features work when pointed underneath the dash! So, diagnosis? Bad alarm box? Is that receiver on the dash broken? Thanks!
Bull Geek 812
Get some oem used or new clickers from ebay - they work better. Lots of People have faced Issues with aftermarket ones
jw89sho 123
Maybe the remote antenna got damaged or knocked loose from the module...
IanDMacDonald 4
Maybe the remote antenna got damaged or knocked loose from the module... Bouncing off this idea (my thoughts as-well), I've looked at schematics for the alarm system, and found it hard to locate the wire. Is it an actual wire that terminates somewhere, or something within the box itself? Thanks, and Merry Christmas.
IanDMacDonald 4
I went to the salvage yard today and bought used fobs. Worked great! Thanks, problem solved.
IanDMacDonald 4
Has anybody investigated why aftermarket fobs suck?
Brian_05_SEL 1418
Cheap, made with less attention to quality. Same reasons that "Made In China" is generally not a positive statement on product packaging...
