Tail Light Question

Recommended Posts

I just have a quick question about tail lights. I have a 2001 Taurus SES, and I was wondering if 2004 tail lights would fit..

The whole lens assembly? It should. Somebody will verify this.

Yes, the whole assembly.

They fit perfectly, bit you need to do a bit of wiring if you want to add the amber turn signal.

I'm confused as to what you mean.. mellow.gif

Well the light has a spot where a hole can be cut and an amber turn signal added to the housing. But you can run them like normal with the combo tail/brake/signal bulb and the reverse bulb.

So if I just replace them they'll work? The amber turn signal is something extra? Or...?

Exactly, you don't have to add it if you don't want to.

Well, its from the "other site", but here is the write up that ive used:

http://www.taurusclu...rn-signals.html

In theory, seeing as the Sables had the amber turn signal option, couldnt you just use the pigtail harness from one of those?

and as far as the bulb socket, you hafta get happy with a dremel tool to "make'' the actual socket in the light assembly.

someone can explain this better.

Anyone know of a good place to get them? I want authentic tail lights... not replicas. Would 1AAuto.com be a good place to go?
