Cut Eibachs? :)

Recommended Posts

Ok gang, time to go lower, who has cut springs/eibachs/etc? wondering how much you have cut and/or tire sizes etc.... Wife stays home now so I can take her car on snow days, Also installing new front sruts and mounts too, rear struts were done 2 yrs ago so they are still good..

Personally, I would not cut springs.

Unless there's a dead coil I wouldn't. Makes the ride a bit bouncy and such

Yeah... Eibachs are stiff enough as it is.

I don't have a pic, but starting @ :22 will give you an Idea. Red car is Eibach/Tokico, silver car is stock.

How low do you want it?

This scrapes enough with the eibachs.

I'm talking sub frame and exhaust scraping. Speed humps and bumps are a chore.

I appreciate your boner.

The car is beat up and the paint is a 4/10.

Needs some wet sanding and a good long buffing.

Try the old school trick of applying a oxy-acetylene flame to the spring with weight on the wheels (i.e. four post lift). Heat one section of a coil, about 2-3 inches wide, gently and the car will drop as you go. Heat, stop, wait for the drop. Repeat as necessary.

Note: This will A ) ruin the springs and B ) cause unpredictable results with uneven heights.

operating at your own risk here.

A lot of the mini truck guys seem to do the heating thing and cutting coils.

The Eibachs don't lend themselves to cutting.
