Finally got to wash Marilyn after a couple months at least, and went ahead and treated the headlights and taillights. Mirror finish on the tails, and headlights look good as new! :D

Now that I think about it, I bet I can use the paint marker I used on the tires to cover up those gray spots on the bumper where the paint came off. (s**tty respray sometime before I got it, no accident reports, though)

I wrecked my Contour once... I never filed a police report :P

Just took it home, and fixed it from junkyard parts. Carfaxes are useless in that sense.

Yes they are, but MY issue with it is this: When I bought the car, it was only 3 years old. I never hit anything with it. If it was in fact in an accident, why would they not have gone through insurance on a car that new?

Prevent your rates from going up if you have the dough ;)

I guess lol. Must not have been that bad of an impact. I don't see any other paintcolors underneath, so maybe there were battle scars, instead of an accident, becasue the rear bumper is the same way, only not as bad.

It might have just gotten scraped up in a parking lot. Just a thought.

That was a thought as well, but I also have the same paint flake on the fender corners, too.

Maybe it's just a factory flaw? :P

Oh that's weird. I haven't seen that before, on any around here anyway.

I've never seen it before on factory paint, and it flakes away from the primer. I can see primer where the paint was. Which means it was a cheap-ass paint. But then again, maybe my car, as everything else of mine seems to be, is the exception.

I know on one of Brian's Tauruses... The paint looks all wrinkled on the bumper, pretty sure it was the Silver one. I am pretty sure it wasn't that way before.

It's weird, just the other day I saw a 2002 white Taurus, and the paint was flaking off of the front fender and the hood. I thought maybe it was a respray, but maybe it is some sort of factory flaw with the white paint that Ford used?

Hell, maybe it is? Maybe GM sold them leftovers from the late 80s/early 90s :rofl2:

Saw a graphite blue 2000 in traffic the other day. The paint was coming off in layers on the hood. Gen 3s around here are starting to have clearcoat failure

Be thankful you don't own a Generation 6 Accord. Those cars are having serious clearcoat failure issues, especially darker colored Accords (blue, black, red, green etc). The 7th Generation ones are now showing the same problem.
