Cabin Air Filters--Which Brand Is Best?

Recommended Posts

After much too long, I remembered that my Taurus has a cabin air filter. What brands are good, and which should I avoid? Thanks for your thoughts.

I just got mine from the dealer. Don't believe the auto part chains had them available back then. Which reminds me, it's probably time I get a new one.

FRAM Fresh Breeze works well.

I wash mine with Clorox Bleach, and then I let it sun dry.

Not like it does anything critical, like provide clean air into a delicate engine

Just be sure when scrubbing it to be gentle, too rough could rip it.

Off topic, but Agreed!! :)

Actually listening to it right now in my van. My theory - If one does not like ELO, then one has horrible taste in music :P

They are dirt cheap - like $10 - $15 tops. Buy new.

AutoZone has them and they work great. NAPA has them in an even better format that will cost you a little bit more.

I've found a little 'essence' is pleasurable.

I put a little green apple scent on the filter before I install it. I get the concentrae at Michael's, FWIW.

I was wondering about spraying something on it to make it smell better. Any ideas?

I replaced the cabin air filter Sunday with a Purolator that I got at Pep Boys. The one I took out has got to be the dirtiest filter I ever changed on any vehicle. Just another tribute to good maintenance.....

I just got the STP brand...all my local store carried on the shelf.

Thanks for the liquid air freshener tip! I love how it turned out!
