Oh you're right sometimes it is meaningless, but you gotta remember when its on that something else could go wrong and then you're screwed and don't know it until you have symptoms!

Plus OBD-II CEL's are much more accurate.

Well yes but you have to be smart enough to tell your car is acting up and then have the codes pulled, but is it worth paying for a new valve or sensor to have an idiot light work properly, no not in opinion. Any major issue that your car has you should be able to feel, hear, or smell.

Except if one of those problems causes the car to run rich and you don't have any noticeable symptoms except for the CEL..... well thats not good for the car!

The 06 siezed in his car because he didn't change the cam synchro! It sheared off and the oil pump stopped... What a moron! Do people just ignore their motor chirping and the CEL?? Oh yes they do...

Well, some people would just turn the stereo up, "Ahhh, one problem fixed! :) "

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I mean seriously, I don't understand why people will go and ignore their car making noises or the CEL... I mean a lot of people see the CEL come on and don't even bat an eye. People buy cars every day with the CEL on because the previous owner tells them "it's been on for a year".

At least in MO you can't pass inspection if your CEL is on...

On my old 06 E-250, the CEL would come on for s**ts and giggles. I fixed that with electrical tape.

The MAF was going bad on it, and the shop kept resetting the code, and it'd come back. So, I fixed it my way :P

You would be able to smell it running rich, if you can't smell it then I wouldn't worry about the engine being damaged. Get behind any old chev pickup and you know what I'm talking about.

Haha! Well a lot of people aren't smart enough to notice things like that. Thats why the idiot lights exist in the first place!

I am always aware of how my car feels, sounds and smells. That's part of the fun!

I heard a story of a guy who ripped his entire dick and balls off..................... after taking PCP. NO JOKE. It was a guy at my high school. Also the story of big lurch.... Took PCP and came home and cut his girlfriends intestines out and ate them... he was sorry after that.

Not too bad of a job.

Also... not a bad way to do a spare tire.

lambrecht chevy of pierce nebraska is liquidating their inventory of new antique cars. Need a 63 Impala with 4 miles or a 58 Cameo with 1 mile? They can hook you up. The guy literally kept most all his inventory and didnt sell it. Over 400 low mile vintage cars with over 50 that have less than 10 miles. Youd be the first ever owner of a 58 year model truck in 2013 titling it off an MSO from GM. Google it.......very very neat.

Someone's gonna be rich after that. Sure the car will need a ton of work probably, but low mileage cars like that? Damn...

He drives in W KY, no salt zone. That is about average 90 miles per day.

Original brakes. Still look OK.

OH yes, he said the heater blower quit. New one. 10 minute job.

No other repairs.

He loves it.
