  1. I am rebuilding my 96 a part at a time. We have the technology, a few hundred more to go and she will be brand new by 2016, 20 yrs after she rolled out of Ford.

Yeah, you can't have a Ford not break. Best bet is to leave one thing broken, that way everything else is fine :)

I have two cars with stuff broken right now. The universe is in balance.

I told you to leave the fuel pump alone, Brian. But nope. Had to fix that. Well now something had to break :P

  2. I bet that has a comfortable ride but man! That thing needs U.S.S. written on the side. :-)
  3. Sorry to hear your caliber was hit. I have been working 12 hrs a day and having trouble keeping up online. I guess the main thing is the car did its job, it bent up rather than you getting bent up. I had a 93 3.0 v6 duster years ago that was wrecked when a woman pulled out from between parked cars. Almost 5 grand to fix it on a 10k loan. The front subframe was straightened in the repair. Now my accident was about 40mph into another car no braking! The Duster unfortunately was never the same after the wreck, it would vibrate around turns, after numerous rotate and replace tires the shop said
  4. Taurus in for inspection, of course it needs work.lol. Two bad motor mounts, 3 new tires mount and balance, parts, labor 700+ out the door. Oh well it's beats a monthly car payment.

      Didn't get a fourth tire???????

Yes about a month and a half ago one got splits between tread and sidewall. The car was in the shop for the tierods and Ty tlked me into one new tire at that time.

Money is tight, normally I buy sets of four but they said I could get a blowout so I erred on the side of safety.

  5. Welcome back. I think it's kinda like if you were once a Taurus guy you are always a Taurus guy, it never leaves you. Not sure if that's good or bad. ;-)
  6. Looks like he drove through a stand of trees and bounced off every one! Depending on the neighborhood that might actually be a good looking car to them. (others might be up on blocks missing wheels and doors)
  7. Ahhh close I guess, my neighbor has a prism for sale. It has faded paint, ugly purple/blue with painted bumpers. Four door sedan, looks like a good candidate for a lemons event.
  8. That is such a strange thing to happen, I read this thread and had to run out in the heat to check my car. I didn't remember looking down at the floor lately.
  9. Nice Chart, we have a lathe, drill presses, and metal saw and other equipment in maint shop at work that are near that old and still going strong. Built extra heavy duty therefore they last, not just the minimum amount of steel but heavy steel. Keep them lubricated and they will last forever.
  10. That lower coolant hose number comes back to a Toyota corolla? 22336
  11. It is so hot out today. How hot is it? It's so hot parking brake pedals are melting and dripping onto carpets.

No Brian, i ready our thread and posted. I did have to go out to the car and check though. Its so humid and hot here it's just rude.

You know what? I think the Tbirds center shifter is oozing too. Underneath the "leather" has been squeezing out this black sticky tar like the brake pedals.

  12. My Grandfather (God rest His soul) had a Jeep Wagoneer. The only thing it was missing was a turret, that vehicle was a tank! He used it to tow His boat and take his Grandson fishing. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Those were the good ole days of my youth.
  13. New tires from Tirerack and a new cardone select cv axle assembly from Rockauto are on the way. Next will be new struts when the budget allows. So far at 120k .. New lower balljoints.. New tierods.. New wheel/hub assemblies.. New brakes front and rear.. New belt, tensioner, idler pulleys... New coolant recovery container... Future needs, water pump, alternator, power steering pump, possible transmission rebuild, rear hubs, all rubber bushings, hoses..etc The car has been pretty reliable up until the 100k parts that all auto makers put in their cars. I have had a wobble at about 50
  14. New tires from Tirerack and a new cv axle assembly from Rockauto are on the way. One of these days I will afford all new struts also.

  15. I haven't watched hours, but I do have a morbid curiosity for crash videos. They can be planes, cars, boats, anything that crashes really. Oh yeah, do wear your seatbelts, and bikers pease wear your helmets. ( public service announcements are cool)
  16. Wow I've seen lemons racers that look better than that!
  17. I finally ran out of excuses, like it's too hot or too muggy or storm on the way. Put the new rotors and pads on the bull, at least I can stop with authority even if I cannot accelerate in the same manner! Seems like such a shame to stop after it took so long to get up to speed. ;-)
  18. Looking to upgrade my wifi modem and router. For all you pc gurus any suggestions? Looking at a Docsis 3.0 modem and router, separates or a combo unit? Any suggestions appreciated.

Linksys has dropped in my eyes now that Belkin owns them. But I suppose it's okay. Apple AirPort is really highly recommended.

Go with the Moto SB6141. This modem is capable of bonding to eight different DOCSIS Channels, which in modems, it helps with reliability and speeds when certain frequencies slow down.

Also, not sure who your MSO is, but ensure they ground the service outside properly before it enters the house.

Linksys sucks, Netgears aren't bad, and certain dual band Netgear routers have lifetime warranties. I've seen the Netgear routers work wonders with the 50 Mbps speed tie...

  19. That is funny, an extra head in the trunk should give you at least a 100 hp boost. :-)
  20. Taurus goes into shop again. Meineke did complete rear brakes 3 yrs ago, guess its time again. Rear brakes making a squeak/ spring sound and parking pedal goes to floor. Never had this issue with any other car I've owned.

Automatic adjusters froze up and one actually fell out of position. No big deal I have rear brakes again.

  21. From a Father of two wonderful girls, thank you for the Fathers Day wish Dave.
  22. Nice Barbie Edition Sable, I thought they only sold them to blondes. I'm not liking the black trim.
  23. Monday my Bull is getting new rotors and platinum ceramic pads up front, and a cleaning and adjustment of the drums. New tires are soon to follow as mine are worn down and won't pass July inspection. Future plans include, cv axles, struts, and the overdue trans and coolant flushes.
  24. Almost lost the Taurus today. Traffic light turned green, I started into the intersection, and heard squealing tires. An old guy in a Chevy Cruze blew through the light swerved so hard around me he almost lost it. Glad I saw him coming it would have been bad.

Goes to demonstrate, you need to dirve for the Others who do not pay attention. Around here, I go through 4 way stops several times a day. Have to watch for those that pull to the stop but do not look right or left. They just stop and go, no matter what. And then you have those whith rhree people at the stop, each waving the other to go first. Then they all go at one time. Whooooo!

I haven't had any close calls like that for years. I try to drive safely, especially at intersections. I gotta say almost getting hit in the drivers door at about 45 was frightening, no side airbags on this Bull.

I have a four ways top on my way to work and most drivers do the roll through, I wait til they go then I go, when it's safe.

I don't think the guy ever saw the light he just blew through it,
