I am here today because I was going to look through classifieds.
I don’t think the problem is people aren’t tinkering or young people aren’t repairing. It’s not even social media.
I remember in the infancy of the TCCA people were joining en masse because they couldn’t find resources for repair. Now there is a YouTube tutorial for nearly everything. If it doesn’t apply to the Taurus chances are there is one for a similar platform vehicle that will work.
People joined and saw the community and realized that people were modding their Taurus and it was infectious. They got repair advice. The enjoyed the community.
That sense of community is mostly gone now though. I used to post every day.. went through a dark period where I drove an escort. A couple years later got a 2012 Taurus. Stopped to check in. Not very many posts. Checked in less and less... to the point I’d see the same threads several days in a row with no posts.
I don’t think you can fix it. Ads suck but with such low participation I don’t see how you have any other choice other than letting it slowly fade away. I guess I’d support ads if it meant the forum gets to live. You gotta remember when the whole ads thing reared it’s ugly head it was probably the lowest point in the TCCA’s existence... lots of strife, lots of animosity and lots of people worried about backroom deals and the owners profiting off them.
