What Have You Done To Your Bull Lately?

Managed to get the amp installed today. It took me way too long to find a spot that fit the look I wanted. Consequently I didn't get anything else done except fitting the 6x9. Now all the hookups and remote wire tapping will have to wait until Monday.
Oh and I spilled moar blood too. I keep breaking open the scab on my thumb.

Well yeah, in your case, do that. But I have seen people buy the 3M kits like 4 or 5 times a year and do it. Like, really? That's kinda unnecessary.
By actual measurements, 8 feet from my garage door, I measured the foot candles on one headlamp. Then gave it a quick polish and I gained 30% in light output. The kit has 5 steps but I only used the last two.
See pic of one headlamp polished and one not polished. Headlamp removal is really easy.
Step 2. I changed to Sylvania Xtravision bulbs and gained additional ~30% in light output.
Step 3. I wired in a relay at the left side lamp so I gained 1.7V at the bulbs and gained 30% more light output. low beams only.
For those not familiar, Taurus/Sables after some year ~2000 or so use separate fuses and always hot at the bulbs. Lights are turned on by grounding a wire to the instrument panel through the multifuction switch and on switch.
From the pic attached, you can see they were not really that bad. No yellow, just frosted a bit.

That's just how mine get, Chart. That's how they were untill about 4:40 pm Friday. Now they are as in the pic on the last page.
And that's without any headlight restore kit. That's after a few minutes of elbow grease and some wax stuff.

JY's make $ off scrap. Of high level value is alloy wheels. The value of scrap aluminum varries greatly depending on what kind of alloy it is. Mixed aluminum is low value. Alloy wheels are known alloy and quite valuable.
Other items like alternators, transmissions, engines, and such are a source of parts for rebuilders.

Thank you for the explanation.
I knew that scrap prices had crept up, but I did not know that it impacted auto salvage operations like that.
I used to yell at my Dad for being out of touch like that. Hey.... what does that mean?

How many cars at the JY still have the cat(s) under them? Quick cash.

Busted the knock sensor on the wagon removing a nearby cable/clip
Part is obsolete at Ford. Nor do the part stores sell it. Only used on 86-95 Taurus.
The plastic housing is right above the cat and below the exhaust manifold. The plastic takes no effort to break, very very brittle like Gen 1-2 side panel plastics for the seat trim.
Found 1 remaining aftermarket one at RockAuto Wells SU2027 . Will be grabbing a sensor off of a 95 at Pull A Part as a holdover.
So wagon can't go to Knoxville tmrw, will be taking the 2000 or something else.

Thats a bummer, Nick.
I wonder if there are any parts from another Ford, or even another car make that could be made to work. Luckily, you scored a sensor, so you'll be good to go.
In other news, I was busy again playing with Marilyn, getting her ready to be rented for the summer. Changed the brake pads up front, and swapped on the volvo hydras. All business as usual.
The suspension change is where I started cursing the car's existance. I'm swapping it back to stock, so that the car's renter (my brother) wouldn't run into any ground clearance issues, and to make the car the least desireable as possible to thieves. The rear suspension was cake. Hour and a half, with beer and b.s. breaks. The front suspension can go f*ck itself. AND IT DID! Actually, the drivers side was a moderate pain, but eventually went back together. The passenger side, a.k.a. the CV axle murderer, was true to form. In our attempts to re-assemble the passenger side, the inner cv joint grenaded, but not before the axle nut threading completely on (smoothly), and magically stripped itself when I had to remove it again. Amazing!! So the axle ruined itself twice, in the span of 5 minutes. F*ck it. F*ck it all. It was time for beer and pizza at that point. I'll finish it tomorrow, and put the car's FOURTH passenger cv axle on it.
Also, the car is getting flashed back to stock, and goes in for an AX4S-HD rebuild on Monday.

Bummer dude! What's a Ford if one doesn't have to fix the fix of a fix?
