So on december 29th, me and my friend Bryan Becker went to this junkyard near my city looking for parts.

we came across this:

Posted Image

a 1994 ATX SHO, that looked way too clean to be here... i didnt think anything of it. until i read this:

from the Fargo Craigslist: my 94 ford tauras sho has been stolen. it is dark green with dark tinted windows lic nd jml887 please call police and then call me at XXX-XXX-XXXX reward may be awarded

at the time i noticed the plates matched, i was shitting bricks and was on the phone with local police, then the owner telling him i found his car!!

More details when available!

Well done, man Posted Image

I'm actually wondering how the junk yard was able to even take it. Scrap piles and salvage yards around here require the pink slips and owner present. :dunno:

It seems a lot of the smaller towns around here have yards that are much less strict, they kind of have to take what they can get. I'm not sure of the legalities behind a salvage yard buying cars but the larger yards and ones in more populated areas seem to like having the title and owner present to prevent this exact type of thing. I am curious to see what the salvage yard is going to have to do and what/if they get charged with anything over it. I know some of my friends have scrapped cars without titles, but they are often just shells by the time they make it to the yard, unlike that SHO.

Junkyards around here aren't strict at all ...

Someone stole a bunch of manholes, the police issued statements and called all local scrap yards saying they were looking for the stolen manholes. One of the junkyards (that was called) took them ...

Good find Shady!! I hope he is able to get his SHO back! That wrecking yard is going to have a few questions to answer from the Police. Posted Image
I think they should be at least fined to maybe help prevent the acceptance of stolen vehicles in the future!

Well I have to make a few more phone calls...

The guy, who;s name is Sean, Offered to SELL ME THE SHO.

thing is though, i have zero dollars right now. the only way would be for me to get a loan through my school, and set it enough to get the car + 500 just in case any issues come up...

im proceeding to call they guy about it...

what a kick in the teeth to have no skrill at the moment

I see a red flag here. Why does he suddenly want to sell you the car? I'll bet he's already been paid by his insurance company for it and he knows if he claims the car back he'll have to either repay the insurance company or give them the car.

You need to find out if he is still the legal owner of this car (his insurance company might be the owner now) and if he can legally sell it to you.

Clearly the guy doesn't want the car back - I'd be asking myself why this is. You may be opening up a can of worms in the legal area with this impulse purchase.

He said he went and looked at it, and he doesnt even want it after what has happened to it. the drivers door panel is all busted up, and there are some speaker wires coming out of the floor on the passenger side.

also he said the Junkyard owns it now, pink slip and all. he brought the papers down on friday, and if i would have been around my phone, he would have sold me the car as is.

All is well in the legality field as far as we are concerned Posted Image
