This is to memorialize the last opportunity I had to spend time with our trusty 2002 Taurus SE sedan. I spent about two hours this afternoon de-modding it as much as possible, because quite frankly I don't want to give away the parts that have cost me time, money, and energy to someone else. Today also gave me one last chance to reminisce about the good times that I've spent driving her.

These are now the very last images of The Odd Couple, seen together. I can only imagine how it will feel if I am ever forced to go through this same process with my SEL. :whine: It almost feels like sending a pet away to get put down.

Gerry, the whole P/S rack is dying. My parents own the car, and do not want to sink any more money into it since my sister will not be back in the US to drive it for at least 8-12 months.

CarMax is buying it tonight for $2k.

Man, y'all are really making it hard for me to resist not selling one of my SHO's and getting into a Gen 4 SEL like the wife's. I just love the bodystyle. Hate to hear she has to go, but she gave you good times.

What a shame. Around here a rack and pinion along with a pump isn't too expensive. Wish we lived closer as I would have bought that beautiful blue bull from your folks. Would have paid you for your mods too.

How did you get the keypad to mount on the door like that?

Did you use this: http://accessories.f...try-keypad.html

Yep, I sure did. They stick on with some nice 3M tape, which is included with the keypad.

If someone happens to locate this car, it has the VIN # 1FAFP53U22G160172, built 12/7/2001 in Chicago. The driver's door will have no factory build decal because it was replaced in 2009 due to minor collision damage. It had 65,665 miles on the odometer as of 1/16/2012. The center exhaust pipe between the 3rd Cat and the resonator has a single brand-new steel clamp, since the old one rusted off and was replaced in late 2010. There is also a stained, crusty spot on the carpeting under the front passenger seat where my sister had forgotten a green pear on the floor during summer, 2010. Posted Image Don't ask. Oh, and it's the only mid-level Gen 4 sedan with front and rear passenger assist handles attached through the headliner.

As far as I can determine, the SE was resold outside of Illinois (online DMV registration check shows no in-state transfer of title, which would have occurred by now) or it was... Posted Image taken out of service permanently.

Posted Image
^ As a matter of fact, if anyone here ever finds that a Pacific Green Met./Saddle cloth 1996 Taurus GL sedan with VIN # 1FALP52U3TG204203 is up for sale, please let me know because I might be prepared to buy her back... Posted Image
