There are two ways to obtain build information on your Taurus. You can either write/email Ford Customer Service, or if your car is 3 years old or newer, you can print a PDF of the window sticker from the Internet.

Here's the link for window stickers: services.forddirect.fordvehicles.com/inventory/WindowSticker.pdf?vin=1FAHP3H24CL121077 just change the vin after the = sign.

Ford has apparently changed their methods on the build sheets. They used to be a no charge service. I wrote in to Ford a day ago to obtain the build spec sheet for the wagon. Here's the reply I received:

Quote

Thank you for contacting Ford Motor Company with your 1987 Ford Taurus build sheet request. My name is Christie and I'm with Ford's Customer Relationship Center.
Basic Build Sheet will outline the options and equipment with which your vehicle was originally ordered. Build Sheets can be ordered online at http://www.shopfordgear.com. U.S. residents without internet access who want to order a Build Sheet can contact our supplier HELM's customer support at 1-877-247-0195. A Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) will be required to place an order. Build Sheets for a vehicle with a model year 1991 or newer are mailed within 7-10 business days of ordering and Build sheets for model years 1990 to 1967 vehicles may take 4-6 weeks to retrieve the information from our systems. VIN's for vehicles with model years up to 1981 are 11 characters long and are 17 characters long for model years 1982 to the present.

In addition, a Deluxe Build Sheet will include all available production figures in addition to the Basic Build Sheet information. Each build sheet is drafted on Ford stationery that is signed by Ms. Elena Ford -- a great addition to any car enthusiast's collection.

In short, you will now have to pay for a Build Sheet.

$17-Basic sheet
$46-Deluxe sheet

I wish they'd give you some information about the production figures you'd receive.
Those prices include shipping.

hi. bull geek

from shoman, I'm 53 yrs old and not very good at this blog thing. but I LOVE MY SHO 'S . ? My car club (fpoa) are mostly mustang and they all have bio on their cars. I try to make the SHOs look just as good. My window sticker has a fed auto info disclosure # AL243N RA 2X 115 000016 11/24/10. I know AL243 IS the BATCH ID, 115 is the PRICE LEVEL, 11-24-10 is the DATE INV. PREPARED, BUT What is 000016 ? IS it the # of kona blu that mounth, or that's the # built sofar for 2011 yr ?

Probably 16th car built in Kona Blue. By that production date, Chicago Assembly had made a few more than 16 '11MY cars...

Hi Guy, I have Good and Bad news. My baby sister (27 yr old ) :) gave me CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY from FORD PERFORMANCE GROUP for Christmas, Oh ye cost $50.00. That's the good news.and the Bad.

A) 4845 2011 SHO were built
B) 382 kona blues were built
C) MY CAR WAS 3245 of 4845 (SAY WHAT ?!?!!!!!)
D) MY CAR IS 294 of 382 (HOW IN WORLD !!?)
E) I order My car Oct 14 2010 the 1st month I could order an 2011 (why is my car so hi #)

That what I asked FORD. They said that they start billing 2011 in may 2010 but don't ship or take orders until Oct, So I did the best I could.
