also, could someone confirm for me that 1-4-2-5-3-6 is the correct firing order for 2003 DOHC?
and that the gap should be .052-.056 ?
wanna be 100% certain
thanks

cool thanks.

wait until you see the detail pics.

...................... the coil and plugs/wires are the easy part of this "restoration" LMAO

edit: all the plugs have arrived. box was smashed, but plugs seem to be intact. went to Ford today and got the intake gaskets, so all im waiting for is the coil pack. then wendsderday is the day. ill post some pics of the process, assuming i dont get TOO pissed off and sling the camera along with a wrench or two

are you taking the intake off to change the plugs?

there is a tutorial at TCCA about taking off the cowl to change the plugs.

ive never done either would like to know which is easier.

well she's done. and the coil pack was obviously the problem. cracks in the plastic galore, at least one with a rust stain around it, indicating moisture in the unit. wow. had only one set back where i had two plug wires mixed to the plugs, even though i did the wires one by one, drew a picture, wrote the numbers on the wires, and checked it all 3 times. its gonna happen i guess. she's runnin great!

Rusty,

Congratulations on fixing your ignition problem. Could you please, shoot a picture of the cracks you found on the bad coil, and share the picture with us?

Thank You,

Paul

Thanks! That is a shot of the good side. the other side has half the paint missing already. not sure why only one side fared so much better than the other...
